2021/22 YORK DANCE ENSEMBLE AUDITION INFORMATION *Now Closed*

This year’s YDE audition will take place via an online video submission and Zoom interview. To audition for YDE, please fill out the YDE Audition Form.

This form consists of a few questions as well as instructions for 4 short exercises that you will record and upload to YouTube(unlisted) or Vimeo or Google drive.

After the committee has viewed your video files, we will schedule a Zoom interview, where you will have the opportunity to ask questions about the course and we can get to know you a bit better. We will also be conferring with your other Dance Department instructors so as to get well-rounded picture of you.

Audition form due: Tuesday, April 27 @ 11:59 pm. *now closed*

Zoom interviews: May 3 – May 14.

Audition results by end of May.

Open to dance majors who will be entering their 3rd or 4th year in September 2021 (minimum B average).

FA/DANC 4245/46 (Dance Ensemble)

Offers an enriched performance/production experience for highly motivated upper-level dance majors wishing to concentrate on performance and production. Students are required to commit to an intensive schedule, including evening rehearsals, performances and off-campus activities. Ensemble members will focus on one or more aspects of dance company activity, which include performance, choreography, production support and publicity. Students in FA/DANC 4245 3.00 are expected to continue with FA/DANC 4246 3.00. Due to the heavy rehearsal schedule, there is a minimum of 12 hours per week. In 2021/22 these rehearsals may be in-person or remote, depending on current health and safety requirements.

Prerequisite: Admission is by juried audition.

Corequisite: Performers must be enrolled in FA/DANC 4205 3.00 and FA/DANC 4215 3.00 (or alternate Department-approved physical practice course).

FA/DANC 3240 (Dance Ensemble Apprentice)

Offers an enriched performance/production experience for third year dance majors wishing to concentrate on performance and production. Students are required to commit to an intensive schedule, including evening rehearsals, performances and off-campus activities. Ensemble members will focus on one or more aspects of dance company activity, which include performance, choreography, production support and publicity. Due to the heavy rehearsal schedule, there is a minimum of 12 hours per week. In 2021/22 these rehearsals may be in-person or remote, depending on current health and safety requirements.

Prerequisite: Admission is by juried audition.

Co-requisites: Performers must be enrolled in FA/DANC 3215 3.00 AND FA/DANC 3216 3.00, as well as FA/DANC 3205 3.00 AND FA/DANC 3206 3.00 (or alternate Department-approved physical practice course).
